How to Make a Duct Tape Skirt
A duct tape skirt is perfect for someone who wants to push the fashion envelope or simply stand out at a trendy party. Duct tape skirts are great to wear at parties because they can attract attention and they are easy to keep clean. Read on to learn how to make a duct tape miniskirt.
Things You'll Need:
Measurements for your hips and for the skirt length
Measuring tape
Scissors
Buttons
Sewing needle and thread

Divide your hip measurement in half and cut a strip of duct tape about 1 inch longer. Lay the strip on the floor or a table with the sticky side up.
Step

Add one strip at a time to the first strip in rows until you get about 2 inches longer than the skirt length you desire. The result is a fabric of duct tape.

Cut more strips of the same length and lay them face down on your fabric so that you end up covering the sticky side. Smooth out the air bubbles before adding each additional strip.

Make another sheet of duct tape fabric so that you have the sticky side covered. Make this sheet at least 2 inches wider than the other one.

Trim any edges or parts that stick out from the sides of your two pieces of fabric.

Attach the two pieces on one side with duct tape. Wrap this piece around your hips to determine the extra amount to trim off, leaving a few inches extra so you will be able to slip the skirt on and off. Measure where you should cut off the other side and make a mark using a pen or pencil.

Tape the loose ends together, and leave a small slit at the bottom so it will be easier to get in and out of the skirt. You might want to cut or leave a 2-inch slit on either side of the skirt.

Cut a gash on one side from the top. Use small pieces of tape to make loops that are placed about 1/2 inch apart.

Sew on as many buttons as there are loops and make sure they are lined up. Use a thimble to protect your finger as you push into the thick fabric.
Tips & Warnings
If your tape edges don't perfectly match up, there is no reason to worry. The edges that stick out can always be trimmed before you put the skirt pieces together.
